Steep Acre,
Windlesham Road is a superb example of an early two-storey four-bay house with a narrow
central smoke-bay (where the new chimney rises); all dating originally from the sixteenth
century. The timber framing on the upper storey on the road side of the house is
pleasantly irregular and it is worth noticing the medieval hipped roof, gablet and arch
braces which add to the charm. The house is well constructed and its square panelled
symmetry is impressive. The Windlesham Road has many fine old farmhouses.
